The original name of this institute is STAIN Jurai Siwo Metro which was established on March 21, 1997. In 2016, the status of STAIN changed to IAIN Metro. The regulation for the establishment of this tertiary institution is listed in Presidential Regulation Number 71 of 2016 where there has been a change in the status mentioned above.
